It was a delight to photograph the 'Vision of Peace' yesterday evening on behalf of Marlborough College, a service of music and readings for Remembrance Sunday.
As reported by Alex Hodgkinson the Director of Chapel Music;
These singers joined our magnificent Chapel Choir to sing works by, amongst others, Byrd, Fauré, Dyson (CR, 1911-1914), Bairstow, and Taverner. It was particularly special for the combined choirs to sing Charles Wood's anthem 'Expectans Expectavi', a setting of words by Old Marlburian Charles Hamilton Sorley, who paid the ultimate sacrifice in 1915, aged just 20. We are very grateful to David du Croz (CR 1996-2007) for giving such a moving reflection.
It was incredibly poignant to have several generations of Marlburians commemorating those who sat and sang in these pews 100 years before them. An evocative, entirely fitting celebration in words and music.
We will remember them.
